Budget Getaways Review
Having recently enjoyed a make-over, along with the addition of the new Ouwerf Venue, Rondeheuwel now makes the idyllic spot to head for for that big family function or birthday bash. The venue is a gorgeous blend of laid back farm style, with a vintage twist, and is located alongside the guesthouse (40m).
The Guesthouse, has been beautifully spruced up, yet still retains its typical Rondeheauwel charm. Contained within the thick cool walls of this historic home are six bedrooms, two kitchens, two dining areas, two bathrooms and several fireplaces.
The impressive thing about Rondeheuwel is the standard of finish. Generally one finds the bigger the Budget house the poorer the standard, but not here. Every inch between Sonop and Sononder – as the front and back are referred to – reflects Hannalie’s creative style, from the bird detailing in the kitchen to the romantic ensemble of draped four-poster bed and matching white shutter-windows in the main bedroom.
The long shaded patio has an open view of agrarian eternity and is perfect for sundowners after a day on Arniston’s beach. These can be followed by a spit braai under the thatched lapa at the back of the house. The kitchen is well stocked, with everything from coffee filter machine to snackwich maker. Not that you’ll necessarily have use for it as Hannalie is all too happy to cater for you. She does everything from boerekos to sandproof beach hampers.
While Rondeheuwel is a good base to Arniston and the surrounding area, it is also a good destination. There is more than enough to do on the farm – walking, cycling, chatting to the ostriches, and hopping aboard Henk’s bakkie for an evening drive between jackal and ystervark. For a civilised reunion of friends or family, we reckon Rondeheuwel is as good as you can get, short of an identical pad on the beach.
"We have just returned from a fantastic weekend at Rondeheuwel. Plenty of space for a large family group to gather, but also plenty of nooks and crannies for the adults to sneak away to for an afternoon nap while the kids go exploring. Spacious and beautifully appointed. Would definitely recommend."

"We had the most glorious weekend ! If getting away from it all with a large group of special people is the idea, then this is the place. The vast silence is golden - only interrupted by the sounds of doves and crickets. The clear starry night sky is sooo special as is the warmth and hospitality of a five star host. Only 10 minutes drive from Arniston beach and Bredasdorp shops - the perfect location at a very reasonable price."

"The most beautiful and comfortable home away from home...it was perfect for the wintery evenings with the many fireplaces and everything we could possibly need as far as cooking and catering ware. We had a wonderful 50th birthday celebration in the barn and Hannalie has added her magic touch to each and every corner. Comfy beds, great linen, long walks. We will be making this an annual getaway for sure! Thank you Hannalie!"

"We had such a wonderful stay here for a 30th birthday with friends. The pictures don't do the place justice! We were left wanting for nothing, excellent facilities in the house and the venue, the absolute perfect setting for a relaxing weekend. Thank you so much Hannalie!"

"A must venue for any celebration. Hanalie is fantastic and her extra touches and care are evident everywhere. The charm of the venue, crockery and glassware will have you planning your next celebration before the end of your stay. I loved it!"

"We had the most special holiday at this house. It's been upgraded. The decor is fabulous and so homely. Plenty of open space. Magnificent sunrises and sunsets. We loved watching the wild animals, especially the evenings when the guinea fowl started getting ready for the evening. We took our bicycles and had fabulous cycles around the roads close to the house. Lovely walks and runs. It's easy to get to the beach and easy to get to town. We would cycle to the beach and the others would bring the towels and picnic. Huge fun every day. We made our own Christmas tree from a branch in the nearby bush. Watched the farmer take his sheep across the lawn to new camps. Truly a memorable stay. Highly recommend. Stunning owner."
