Budget Getaways Review
Tucked away in a beautiful corner, 5km from the village itself, Three Streams dates back to 1787. Not only is it a historic farm, it also lays claim to being the highest farm in the Franschoek mountains, which means, for you the guest, a wonderful setting and views.
There is a simple privately-appointed cottage, comprising a main bedroom with a Queen bed, and two other rooms, each with a pair of single beds. As there's only the one cottage you are assured of complete serenity and privacy. There are two full bathrooms, a well-appointed kitchen and a comfortable lounge with the perk of DSTV, a fireplace, two braais and a Weber.
For activity, Three Streams offers a swimming pool fed by crystal clear mountain water and dedicated fly-fishing, which is included in the general rate. Plus, there are the general Franschhoek attractions, among them walking and hiking, restaurants, wine tasting, horse-riding and golf.
Looking at the visitors book, both fisherman and general guest have had a fine time at Three Streams: "Awesome once again," "My first time flyfishing and it was great", "Novice paradise", "Kids had a blast, only downside is having to leave!" "What a great place to relax, catch some fish and bond."
"We had a lovely stay at Three Streams! Marguerite is extremely helpful and the grounds are beautiful, with breathtaking views from the front of the area (which is just in the sun most of the day). At the back, you can enjoy the shade and lovely (but very chilly) pool. It's very isolated yet close to Franschhoek - a perfect place to explore the winelands."

"The surroundings are absolutely beautiful. It's the only guest cottage on the farm so privacy is great. The owners are friendly and respond to queries promptly when booking and, while there, are welcoming without invading one's privacy. The farm dogs pop in to say hi daily and accompanied us on walks - they are gorgeous. Overall - fabulous - quiet location, very comfortable cottage but close enough to Franschhoek."

"We had a lovely weekend at Three Streams Farm. A beautiful, tranquil setting away from the rush of city life. Margueritte had thought of everything. You literally just have to take food and clothing. Wood was also supplied for the beautiful fireplace in the little lounge. We really had such a lovely visit."

"Spent a lovely weekend in June on the farm, with wife, toddler and baby. Toddler loved checking out the horses, the dam, the hatchery. We spent Saturday morning strolling down Franschoek main road. The nights were cold, but there was ample firewood, wall-heaters and hot-water bottles to keep us toasty warm. The cottage was well appointed, with all we needed. Lovely and peaceful. Will definitely be back (with fishing rod!)."

"We've had a great stay at Three Streams with our two kids (aged 12 and 9) and my son's keen fishing buddy. The accommodation is spacious, very neat and the kitchen is well equipped. The location is picture perfect, beautiful gardens, views of the horses and stunning surrounding mountains. Thomas says the fishing is great fun - he caught and released 10 fish. This is the first time he released a trout by himself. Our trip to the hatchery was very informative. We loved having the farm dogs following us wherever we went. Franschhoek remains a very special spot and the village market on Saturday was most enjoyable. We will be back!"

"What a magic place, spotless and well appointed. Trout fishing really good and the farming of the fish most interestingly explained by the friendly owners and staff. We will definitely be back."

"It depends what you are looking for. You need to either enjoy fishing, swimming or just want to totally chill. Beautiful surroundings, lovely, friendly people and because it's the only guest cottage on the farm, no hordes of people around you. The owners' animals are wonderful as well."

"10 out of 10 for value for money over the December period. Beautiful, relaxing and a 'wow' from our visitors from the UK."

"What a lovely spot! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the cold and rain in March! The kids loved the rowing boat on the dam, while my husband tried his luck at fishing. We went for some super walks when the rain held off, and of course, the nearby restaurants are fabulous. Will be back!" (Jill)

"Spent the weekend there for my mate's 30th. Had a blast fishing from first light to brunch. Fishing was great. Had two first-time fly fishermen in the group and they managed to catch a couple of trout. Great venue. Wives went shopping and the guys kept fishing. What more do you need?"
