So you’re stuck in yet another infamous Mother City bottle-neck, staring at yet another banal bumper sticker (today it's Save the whale: Harpoon a fat chick), thinking there's got to be more to life than this…
And you know what? There is! It's called 'Next weekend I'm going to Frida's Cottage in Stanford.'
Perfectly located near the banks of the Klein River on the outskirts of the village, this single bedroomed cottage is built for harassed urban couples - like you.
The cottage comes with Queen bed and en-suite loo and shower. A fully equipped kitchenette and open-plan living area make for an easy winter's eve around a cozy fire.
Outside you’ve got a patio and braai area for the summer months and even a caravan nearby, which can pack the kids into - that's if you haven't already left them on the N2 to find their own way home.
Linen, fresh towels and DSTV add to the village bliss, as does knowing your cherished Volvo station-wagon is settling in happily in the off-street parking.
There’s no lack of varied action either. The village Saturday morning market is a short stroll away and the well known Stanford Walking Trail, which follows the meandering Klein River, just a stone's throw from your abode.
Later on, head off to Stanford’s own ale brewer, the Birkenhead Brewery, for a pint and some lunch, or take in a gallery or three before heading back to your nest for an afternoon kip.
All in all, Frida’s offers fair value in the perfect rural village. As one guest comment suggests, Frida’s cottage offers it all, “Great service, great place, great time!”

"It was exactly what we were looking for. A great village to break away from the busy schedule of the city. Beautifully renovated cottage with big lounge and relax area. Kitchen DSTV. Walk out the door, turn right and 30 seconds later you're next to a river. Great service, great place, great time! Will be back any day."
