Budget Getaways Review
Glampacking is a fairly recent addition to the Budget Getaways pages, and this one looks like a good example of the fast-growing trend.
Slapbang in the very heart of Knysna, and just off Main Road as you head out of town towards the lagoon, Knysna Glampackers is within walking distance of the waterfront, restaurants, coffee shops and book stores.
It's getaway that combines the authentic taste of the town’s Bohemian past with a stylish range of accommodation and a price tag that's sweet on the pocket.
The 11 timber chalets are privately appointed in a lush forested garden that's terraced on different levels.
The units range from two-sleepers with Queen beds, to larger four-sleeper units well suited to a family. All include tea and coffee facilities, linen and towels, a heater, fan and mozzie net. The bathrooms are ensuite, with the option of showers or a lavish Victorian bath if this tickles your fancy.
Sitting lower down in the garden is your communal chill zone, with tables, chairs and free WiFi. There's also a small restaurant (The Bundu Cafe) serving meals on request.
Bicycles can also be hired here, while a good platter of activities in and around Knysna can be organised via reception.
A simple and neat central base with a global travellers vibe, this is a great option in you want to be in the heart of the action and don't want to pay a fortune for the convenience.
"This place is magic. You feel like you are walking into the forest. Located next to the main road and across the road there is supermarket and shops, the waterfront and all the restaurants within short walking distance. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. "A magical African Paradise, hidden away in the centre of Knysna. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. They put us in a room with a Victorian Bath, which was perfect for our two day stay. The staff is very helpful and put the needs of their guests first. Jaynie made sure that we were happy and comfortable at all times. We had the most amazing breakfast made at the Bundu Cafe on site. Shops, restaurants were all in walking distance, and the nightlife was just perfect."
