Budget Getaways Review
Right in the thick of things, yet removed from it all, Prospect Cottage sits in a quiet cul de sac just above Knysna's main artery.
Flipping through the guest book, the most frequent comment seems to be 'home from home'. We agree, the general atmosphere, the décor and the personal touches are everything you would expect from a family holiday home - comfortable old lounge furniture, rocking chairs and homely décor, a large unpretentious kitchen equipped with everything and more (from jaffel iron to glasses for any occasion), well-thumbed books, old clocks, DSTV, a tray of welcoming sherry, as well as other bits and pieces collected over the years...
Leading off a carpeted passage, Prospect's three bedrooms are comfortable and unpretentious. The main bedroom has views and a walk-through cupboard to the bathroom, while the other two bedrooms, also with views, share a pink bathroom that Barbie could have had a hand in designing.
A sundeck leads off the lounge to a panoramic outlook over the Lagoon and Knysna Heads, while to the side of the house you'll find a braai area and small garden.
From Prospect, a mere three-minute walk brings you to the centre of town; a few minutes more in the other direction you'll arrive at the lagoon. As a recent guest suggests, you really are perfectly placed here, " Believe me, you have got prime location, with the town and lagoon within easy walking distance. I enjoyed the most beautifull views of the lagoon and surounding scenery, which one gets sitting on the outside deck, or even from the lounge area."
So, if you are looking for a stress-free option near the hustle and bustle, you won't find better value and convenience than Prospect Cottage.
"The cottage had everything you need for a family vacation with ample space too. The views were fantastic and the hosts super friendly. They also provided little extras too, such as a bottle of wine and rusts. We hope to return to Knysna in a few years and will look to stay here again."
