Simple in character and aimed at the budget-conscious traveller, The Cabin is a cozy little abode on the indigenous forest fringe outside Rheenendal - 22km from Knysna CBD.
Scouting around the online reviews, you'll find a healthy dose of glowing feedback: "We stayed at this unique and quaint cabin for four nights and never ran out of anything to do or to explore." Set away from the smallholding's main house and surrounding cottages, The Cabin perches under a grove of trees, with plenty in the way of privacy and charm. Expect to be woken by the rasping call of the Knysna loerie, and some friendly company in the form of the farm hound and two Alpacas - which double up as handy lawnmowers.

Compact and cozy, with a bedroom, bathroom and a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and dining table. From the living area, it's a step onto the covered patio with a table for that morning coffee and a braai area under the stars - bring own wood and Blitz.
Sleeping-wise, the bedroom is fitted with a double bed under a mozzie net, and the bathroom features loo and shower.
Onto the wider surrounds. If you’re here to mountain bike, hike or explore the Knysna forest, they're all right on your doorstep. The historic Millwood goldfields, Jubilee Creek and formal Homtini mountain bike trails are just up the road, while Knysna and Buffalo Bay are but a short drive away. And then, a mere stone's throw away, is the celebratory cherry on the top: Totties Farm Kitchen, which serves up the best Sunday buffet lunch this side of the Equator.

"Great place, great price. The charm, ambience, tranquility, atmosphere and simplicity was major, but this is not a getaway for the person seeking all the creature comforts of home. Louis, the host, was a plus, assisting even when assistance was not requested. Altogether, a fantastic few days, with lots to do for the adventure lovers (if that's your game) otherwise you can just chill and take it all in."
