A well-appointed guesthouse, right in the heart of Robertson, GuBas de Hoek offers a number of guest rooms (outside of the BG budget range) as well as two beautiful, self-catering garden cottages (both within the upper reaches of our rates threshold). These two units, accessed from two different street entrances, offer great value for couples or families wanting to base themselves right in the heart of Robertson, in a relaxed and stylish setting.
Both are privately positioned within a lush, landscaped garden as well as off-street parking for your wheels.
Looking at each cottage in detail, first up and the smaller of the two is 16 Garden Cottage. Sleeping a total of four, the cottage has two bedrooms (a twin and queen room). There’s a bathroom with shower and loo. A comfy lounge area is open plan to an equipped kitchen. Heading outside, you’ve got a patio with outdoor furniture, which spills out onto the garden. Mod cons come in the form of a TV and free WiFi.
16 White House is the larger option and sleeps a total of seven. Tastefully restored, this old homestead, now completely off grid, has classic high ceiling and wooden floors. With three bedrooms in total, two are ensuite to bathrooms with showers and loo’s, while the third room (with double and single bed), has a separate bathroom. The living space is homely and comfortable, includes a fireplace, TV and free WiFi and is open plan to a well-equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher!).
Outdoors you’ve got a lovely covered verandah, which leads onto the garden.
The guesthouse swimming pool is within easy reach of either cottage, as is the option of the scrumptious GuBas breakfast, which is on offer at a reasonable rate and served at the guesthouse.
Your hosts are also on hand to recommend a number of day trips and outings on offer in the area. Eating wise, there are restaurants and coffee shops in Robertson. The garden at Gubas really is a delight, with a boule area, Vita Parkour (outdoor exercise area), plenty of quiet chill spots and of course the swimming pool.
Comfortable, relaxed and with loads of attention to detail. GuBas de Hoek may not be dirt cheap, but it’s a real treat!
