The Barn McGregor is a self-catering unit, a quaintly rebuilt and renovated old farm shed or barn, with sash windows with shutters and dark beamed ceilings. The Barn can accommodate up to 5 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The main bedroom contains a queen sized bed; the second bedroom contains 2 single beds, and the third bedroom contains a three-quarter bed. The bathroom fitted with Victorian bath on legs, a toilet and a quaint old ’Was Tafel’. There is also an outside shower. All 3 rooms have mosquito nets, wall-mounted heaters or oil heaters and extra blankets for cold nights, as well as an electric fan to cool down for the warmer summer nights. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and contains a stove, oven, fridge-freezer, bar fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and cutlery and crockery. There is also a breakfast table. The dining area has seating space for 6 people, while the lounge has a comfy lounge suite surrounding the fireplace. The unit also has a flat-screen TV with selected DStv channels, and free Wi-Fi access is also provided. Braai facilities and an outside entertainment area are available on the kitchen back stoep. The garden is lush and green with a myriad of birds visiting the bird pond and nesting in the fruit-bearing olive trees. The garden is fully fenced which makes it possible to bring your pet along, by prior arrangement. Secure on-site parking is available for 3 cars.

Come and stay at The Barn for a relaxing break from the city rush and enjoy the small-town buzz of McGregor, founded in 1861, a small heritage dorpie with 1900 style historical architecture. Vineyards, Fruit Orchards and Nature Reserves surround the village, with fantastic wine tasting opportunities and wildlife for nature enthusiasts.
Attractions
The Barn in McGregor is within walking distance of art galleries, pottery studios, a garagiste winery, a wine-tasting venue, restaurants, a Courtyard Event Spot where famous and, non-famous persons perform to the delight of the audience. Spa and wellness treatments as well as yoga and spiritual experiences can be had and once a year the famous Poetry Festival takes place in August. Cycling fanatics have a racing calendar throughout the year with one of the most famous races being Road to Nowhere Race. Hands on Harvest in February and Wine on the River in October are part of a wine celebrating culture which draws many visitors’ year after year. The hiking trail between McGregor and Greyton is any hikers dream with waterfalls, rock pools for swimming, amazing views, vegetation and wildlife. Every Saturday morning a farmer’s market sells homemade delicacies and home grown produce at country prices.
