Budget Getaways Review

Waking up at Kulamoya one faces the agony of choice: Pull up the covers and stay in bed til 10? Hunt down the nearest McGregor cappuccino (five minutes on foot)? Remain in the Stokies and tuck into a Kulamoya breakfast? Or take the high road with a dawn run through the Krans Nature Reserve? Decisions, decisions...

Circled by an indigenous garden shared by the main homestead, this little cottage is ideally suited to couples seeking a combo of privacy and homely touches. From the sun-drenched front porch to the uncluttered country interior, the attention to detail shines through.

Featuring an open-plan layout, the cottage comes with Queen bed decked in percale linen, with small table and two reading chairs at the opposite window.

Over at the far end is a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. The ensuite bathroom features loo and shower.

Parking is off-street and undercover. With its own entrance, you can come and go as you please.

Activity-wise, you have the slow-burn delights of McGregor just down the drag, several hiking options in the adjoining nature reserve (with birds-eye viewing sites over the village), a labyrinth in the garden, and a swimming pool for them sultry summer months.

The optional scrumptious breakfast is served either on your cottage veranda or, in winter, in front of a blazing wood stove at the main house.

As an elegant and cosy couples' escape nicely balanced between town and country, you can't hope for much more. “A fantastic place to stay, beautiful setting and so comfortable!” says a recent visitor from Old Blighty.

Say no more.

Guest Reviews

"Very tranquil and comfortable, loved the special unexpected touches here and there. It was just what we needed to get away from the daily grind."

"We really enjoyed it as it was so relaxing. The breakfast was super and the hospitality excellent. I would suggest a fan for the warm summer days or night. We will be back again. I enjoyed the pool surrounded with the sound of birds."

"A huge thank you to Janet and Gordon from Kulamoya, who made our stay in McGregor one we'll remember forever. The hospitality they showered on us was second to none, Janet's delicious (really delicious!) breakfast served on a romantic, secluded patio, with Sunbirds for company, good recommendations on what to do in the area, and a comfy, cozy cottage where we unwound after a tough day of wine tasting, walking and eating. Relaxing and unwinding was the order of the day, but it was in Die Krans nature reserve behind Kulamoya where we got engaged! Nick had been planning this for a while, but would like to thank Janet and Gordon for their help in organising the incredible flowers, a cold bottle of champagne and delicious canapes to celebrate back at the cottage after he popped the question. And after we returned from dinner that night, they had covered the cottage in more flowers and candles and chocolate, without them our stay would not have been half as romantic and special. You both went above and beyond in ensuring this weekend will be forever cherished, and we appreciate all you did."

"A fantastic place to stay, a beautiful setting and so comfortable. The owners have provided everything you could need for a truly relaxing time."
